Many of the children who attend the pre-school centre have already attended our Infants and Toddlers centre. Having had a three week, or longer if needed, transition to the junior room they are primed and ready to delve into new experiences and new discoveries. The children are of a similar age, typically between 2 years to 3 years 6 months. It is important to note that it is developmental stages which determine whether your child attends the junior or senior room.
Children also join the Koru Whare whom are new to Toddlers Turf Childcare Centre. They also have a period of transition which best suits their needs. We can discuss this with you upon enrollment. The activities intermingle with those of the Waka Whare; children are encouraged to move freely between each room so that they become familiar with all the children and all the teachers. Children in this age group are still likely to swing back and forth in development but have a growing capacity to understand and cope in an ever changing world. With this in mind the Koru Whare provides a clear focus upon your child developing self-help skills so they can sustain themselves, learn and grow.
